15% growth in tourists in Bansko during the summer season compared with last year reported hoteliers from the resort.
“That is good news. Moreover, in the summer dozen major hotels closed doors. But operating small family complexes owned by Bansko citizens. Festivals, which the municipality organized, contributed significantly growth of tourist flow this year.” said the mayor Georgi Ikonomov.
The mayor pointed out that the goal of local government is to transform the city in preferred summer destination because it has long been the No. 1 Ski resort on the Balkans.
During the summer, Bansko became a cultural and musical center which attracts guests from home and abroad. The most intense is the program during the vocational months – July and August. For the first time this year was held the festival “La Boheme Bansko Fest”, which was a celebration of Balkan rhythms. The other huge musical event was “Bansko beat.”
Local people and music lovers from the region and the country enjoyed the talents of performers from different styles of contemporary music. Summer theater evenings were performed from 1st to 7th of July. Fifth Summer Cinemania under the stars took place from 16-th to 19-th of July. The iconic music event in the resort – Jazz Fest was from 8th to 13th of August. The sixth Festival “Bansko Opera Fest” was held in late August – from 29th to 31th.
