“Bansko’s official celebration is a source of pride – we are proud to be citizens of a town which combines traditions and modernity, taking its well-deserved place among the world’s ski resorts and being rightfully named the Winter Capital of the Balkans and the best Balkan festival destination. As we honor the heroic memory of our ancestors, we are preserving the spirit of Bansko for the future generations!”. This was how Bansko’s mayor greeted his fellow-citizens at the “Bansko in celebration” concert for the town’s official holiday.
To honor the occasion, the Municipality in Bansko had organized a week of celebrations, with the culmination being the concert of the pop-folk diva Raina. She had prepared a variety of folk songs for her fans in the ski resort. Favorite folk melodies from the area of Pirin mountain served as background to the performers from “Pirin mood” and “Bansko’s swanks” dance groups, who entertained the audience. The town’s main square filled with joy and color, and the last element of the celebrations program sent fireworks into the resort’s skies.
