For the first time, Bulgaria will host the start of World Cup snowboard parallel disciplines. The race will be held in Bansko during the 2016/2017 season. This was decided at the 50th Congress of the International Ski Federation (FIS) in Cancun (Mexico). Thus, the Bulgarian fans will be able to see on live the mastery on the white slopes of the current winner of the trophy Radoslav Yankov.
“This is a great success for Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Ski Federation – said from Cancun the president BSF – Tseko Minev. – We received this start because of the great success of Radoslav Yankov, good organization and approved image of the perfect host, contacts, and lobbying. It is not easy to take a similar event a year earlier! I’m happy this is great recognition!”
Starts in the parallel giant slalom at the best men and women in the world will be on February 4, 2017.
Besides this Bulgaria got two more starts in the Alpine skiing. In 2019 Bansko will welcome World Start for men in the giant slalom and combined, and in 2020 will host the Super G and combined of women.
