“Around 370,000 tourists visited the winter resorts (Pamporovo, Bansko and Borovets) during the Christmas and New Year holidays. There is an increase of around 3% compared with the same period last year. “Data from airports show an increase in green flights for the winter season. Only at Sofia Airport are 178 and last year were 80. Flights from the UK last year were 24 and now are 69. There are new seven new flights from Ukraine. With 8% are rising flights from Russia. New flights are requested by Copenhagen and the Netherlands. Turkish Airlines increased its flights from 14 to 19 per week” commented also the Minister of Tourism.
Bulgarian resort Bansko is the most affordable destination for family recreation in the winter. This became clear from the independent research agency “Ipsos MORI” on behalf of the site for reservations TripAdvisor. The study compared prices of 42 popular European centers for mountain recreation. One-week holiday for four-member family in Bansko which includes the price of the hotel, ski passes, rental equipment, training with an instructor and breakfast with drinks costs € 1,500. In comparison to the same services in the most expensive European resort Zermatt skiing fans have to pay nearly four times more money – € 5,700. It turns out that this winter Bansko not only remains the most favorable destination, but prices fell by € 425.
