Students Councils of three universities – University of National and World Economy, New Bulgarian University and the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy support requests of the mayor of Bansko, Georgi Ikonomov for the speedy resolution of the burning case with the construction of the second ski lift in the ski resort.
According to the mayor of Bansko the support the municipality receives from young people is normal, because these are the people who will work and develop in Bulgaria, hence their high expectations for the direction of development of the country in economic terms, are entirely justified.
Ikonomov adds that tourism forms 16% of the Bulgarian economy, and about half of this share falls on winter tourism. Despite all the controversy in recent years the potential should be maximized in order to achieve a balance between environmental protection and economic development.
