The World Ski Awards gave the trophy during a lavish ceremony that was held in Arosa hotel in Kitzbuhel. The event that is equivalent to an Oscar of this industry was televised to more than 100 million people all over the world. Between midsummer and October, the online voting for choosing the best winter resort attracted more than one million votes. This had made it one of the biggest events in television history. The popularity of these awards has managed to surpass expectations.
The Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena achieved the status of a 5 star ski hotel category and repeated the success after 2013. This enabled Bansko to achieve a double win in both the categories after the awards were started in 2013. The other hotels that were nominated for these awards in Bulgaria include Borovets, Pampororvo, and Vitosha among other nominated hotels from other countries.
Best Resort, Boutique Hotel, Chalet and Hotel were the four categories in which awards were announced. These four categories attracted completion from 21 countries and 5 continents. The architectural and historic value of Bansko has made it the most popular resort in Bulgaria. This has also propelled it to the top of favorite tourist destinations in the world. It is not just a great winter resort, but also an all-seasons’ resort that has wonderful conditions for tourist from all over the world.
