The countdown for the FIS World Cup 2019 is running

Bansko is hosting on February 22nd – 24th, 2019 the FIS Ski World Cup. Preparations for the races are running full steam ahead.

The countdown started at the Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena where the leaders of all teams responsible for the organization of the racing weekend February 22 – 24, 2019 met. Alpine Combination, Super G and Giant Slalom are the disciplines in which the men will compete in Bansko. The best bulgarian winter resort is hosting this season more than 2 World Cup tournaments together with Kitzbühel (A), Wengen (CH) and Soldeu (And). Since 2009 in Bansko there have been 8 FIS World Cups – 6 in skiing and 2 in snowboarding (2017 and 2018). Now, for the first time since 2012 the men a returning to Pirin mountain.

500 people are involved in the organization of the races. Almost 100 of them are responsible for the route preparation. The “Marc Girardelli” run will host the fast disciplines – Super G and Giant Slalom. The slalom for the alpine combination will take place at the “Alberto Tomba” slope. So there will be a total of 3 routes: the Super G trace at Marc Girardelli is 1697 m long with 600 m displacement. The  giant slalom is on the same slope, but it’s 1238 m long. The slalom on “Tomba” is 615 m long with 200 m displacement.

150 trucks will deliver the equipment for the FIS World Cup – safety nets, 2800 seats, VIP tables etc. During the racing weekend 350 team members and over 300 journalists are expected in Bansko.
