“Bansko for years stated its desire to develop in the sphere of winter tourism and contribute to the image of our country” commented the Mayor of Bansko – Georgi Ikonomov.
“In other countries people put public interest before that of some suspicious green organizations” said Ikonomov when it comes to the protests against the construction of a second lift in Bansko. “Environmentalists want to put the mountains under a common denominator and no one could reach it, not coincidentally, our slogan is “Open the way to the Mountain”. Environmentalists must be assured that we most want to preserve nature and the mountains in resort. More than obvious is the need for construction of a second cabin and not just lift but also more ski runs. It is unacceptable for us to attract tourists and after that they to leave disappointed. Many countries associated with Bulgaria with Bansko, as was previously with Stoichkov. Bansko is not declining, but going forward” add the Mayor.
